In 2019, Downtown City Centre won the special award of the “Community Hall of the Year of 2018”.
“These honours are successes that we won together with all the downtown residents. I can tell it without modesty that the creation of Downtown City Centre is a unique and gap-filling idea that is surprisingly successful even for us. The possibility of it is based on the enthusiasm, active participation, and love of the downtown residents. The hall is empty on its own, the community is also necessary.” – Péter Szentgyörgyvölgyi, mayor

The Office of the Year contest has been created 10 years ago to draw the attention of the firms and developers to the importance of the environment of the workplaces. Due to the extraordinary circumstances, the jubilee award ceremony will be held online on 30 April. The event will be freely available.
The independent Office of the Year award is unique at international levels, that focuses on the workplace environment. “We have been preparing for a long time to our jubilee award ceremony, but this virus situation has made us make a choice. We decided to hold the ceremony online instead of postponing it. The event will be available for free for everyone who is interested in the design of offices and buildings. This is our support of the market. The contest was created after the start of the financial crisis of 2008 so we have learned from experience that it is very important to react to the new situations in time, but with consideration. For this reason, the free award ceremony will start with a professional conversation with the jury, and we will share researches and authentic market information to help the firms.” – told Dániel Fodor, the main organizer of the event.
More than 170 participants have applied to the contest, which was organized by ingatlan.com. The winners have been chosen from the evaluation of almost 50 business juries, 10 professional juries, and a public vote. This year, besides the design and rental categories, with the collaboration of the Három Királyfi Három Királylány (Three Princes Three Princesses) movement, the Family Friendly Office of the Year award will be announced for the first time. This draws attention and emphasizes the importance of the need to aim to create offices with an environment where parents can work having the children on their side, thus helping keep the balance of work and private life. For the reason of our changing working habits, this might become even more important to the families in the future.
Organizers of the contest also find it important to prepare the market for the period after the coronavirus. The office life will probably change and firms will find new aspects to take into consideration when creating the work environment. For instance, the philosophy of the second home can strengthen, thus more flexible schedules might be required, so one can work at the office similarly to at home. The beginning conversation at the award ceremony will be also focusing on predictable changes and a Hungarian language podcast, “The office of the Year” has also been launched. In these conversations, professional representatives look for answers to what will happen after the home office period, how we will work in half a year.
