Dear Little and Very Little Ones! Last week we improved our balance using papers on the floor that we folded in smaller and smaller pieces. This time we will vary that game a bit.
You will need 4-5 papers with drawings or pictures on them of animals or well-known objects. First, let the child find out what (s)he sees on the picture to make sure that it’s recognized.
Then you can start the stepping, balancing game. Place the papers on the floor closer and further from each other and tell the child (or have a plush toy with you that tells) where to step next.
Later on, you can cut the papers in half. The game is the same, but this time the child has to recognize the animal or object by just a half picture. At the end of the game, the child can place the halves of the papers together.
The stepping game and at the end, the puzzle is even more challenging if you cut the pictures into three of four pieces.
I recommend everyone not to miss songs, rhymes, swinging, clapping, rhythmic games during the week neither.
Last, but not least I recommend you a game with balls that improves fine motor skills. You will need different kind of papers, for example, printing paper, napkins, wax paper, aluminium foil, and cardbox paper. Crease the papers with two hands, form strong balls. The materials are all different, they can be soft or hard, noisy and quiet when touched, easy or hard to form. There are so many differences that you can detect.
If the balls are ready, you can aim them into bowls, or kick them toward the bottles filled with rice or lentils from last time. How many of them can you turn over? A few? A lot?
I wish you a pleasant and joyful time,
Kati Kárpáti
