At home again – how to manage work and kids at the same time?

The pandemic measures announced at the beginning of March have caused difficulties in the lives of families. Parents need to accomplish more tasks at the same time; children are again at home without their peers, without their usual habits and daily routine.

We know that last year it was difficult to keep the kids busy and find them meaningful pastime to develop and to be able to ensure their optimal development and at the same time parents also needed to work and do the household chores.

Continuous development

During the first lockdown last year several families faced with problems, but everybody managed to establish a well-working system for themselves. Though the circumstances are the same, it is
important to prepare now for the new challenges on the basis of the current developmental stage of the children taking new habits and circumstances into consideration.

Conscious planning, family rules

It is essential to plan the life of the family consciously, to ensure meaningful days for the children. Everyone should have their own space at home right from the first days and the rules should be created together on the basis of the members’ needs and wishes. It might be difficult to occupy the kids for a longer period of time but you can find useful ideas in our previous articles to play games, you can choose from several exercises, creative activities and exciting experiments, too.

Playing alone or continuous tasks?

We will collect you some activities with which you can help your kids to learn to play independently, to find joy in playing alone. They should be able to elaborate in certain activities, but we need to pay attention to help their development by offering activities, colorful and interesting games that will motivate them. This is a real support for the whole family, since home-office doesn’t let parents to play with their kids, to supervise games or to give ideas continuously.
It is also important that we shouldn’t keep the children permanently busy with activities and tasks. We shall let them be quiet for a while to be able to find out what they really want; they can also read a story book. Let’s trust them and let them find their strengths.
